A well trained electrician is a professional who will do the job right. The NECA/IBEW Local 134 have a storied history of doing whatever it takes to provide the right educational opportunities to membership to ensure safety and quality when on the job. The recent renovation of the IBEW/NECA Technical Institute in Alsip, IL symbolizes the organization’s commitment to world-class training and education. The 120,000-square-foot facility consists of 12 large classrooms, eight extensive laboratories and a full-size residential and commercial mock-up for apprentices to practice in. During its 70-year history the Institute has graduated literally thousands of apprentice electricians.

The NECA & IBEW Certification Card, worn only by experienced IBEW electricians and professional NECA contractors, is a visual reflection of our commitment, expertise and training. The NECA/IBEW Local 134 sponsor the Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Trust, an apprenticeship program that teaches electricians how to assemble, install, maintain, and test electrical equipment and wiring systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Our comprehensive program requires five years to complete and is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.
